Suicide Prevention Lifelines

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

No matter what problems you are dealing with, we want to help you find a reason to keep living. By calling 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ you’ll be connected to a skilled, trained counselor at a crisis center in your area, anytime 24/7. 1-800-799-4TTY (4889), for hearing impaired (24/7).

Veterans Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Support for deaf and hard of hearing individuals is available.  http://veteranscrisisline.net/

University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) CrisisLine

The UNI CrisisLine provides 24 hour, 7 days-a-week phone crisis service and is staffed by mental health professionals providing emotional support, assistance, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention to individuals experiencing emotional distress or psychiatric crisis.

Crisis services include:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Emotional support
  • Problem solving
  • Referral to available resources
  • Risk Assessment

Utah Department of Health Violence & Injury Prevention Program (VIPP)

VIPP- free sexual assault hotline. Open 24/7, calls from all over the state are routed to one of 12 rape crisis programs. If you or someone you love is in a violent relationship, call these FREE hotlines open 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

The Rape Recovery Center

Professional staff and certified volunteers provide 24-hour crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support and referrals to sexual assault victims, their families, and their friends in 150 languages via a 3-way tele-interpreter service. Although the 24-hour crisis line is confidential, it is governed by mandatory reporting laws.
